The Sri Dalada Maligawa 
(The Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic is one of the most sacred and revered Buddhist institutions in the world. Inscribed in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites, this has been a great tourist attraction for centuries. Its standing among global community of Buddhists and non–Buddhists alike positions Sri Lanka, uniquely, in the world cultural tourism map. The annual Kandy Pageant (Esala Perahera) marks the high point of all religious festivals of the country, which attract thousands of pilgrims as well as tourists from all over the world.

The well received FEC implementation consisting RichPOS Information Kiosk, hints the possibility of similar projects in the mid-term, at ancient cultural sites such as Anuradhapura,Polonnaruwa, Sigiriya, Golden Temple of Dambulla, old town of Galle and its fortifications etc. and many other sites. Government of Sri Lanka is progressively driving facility upgrading programs to benefit thousands of daily visitors to these sites. Initial estimates show an encouraging 200 units to be implemented in the next 5 years.

Propagating the concept of “modernization with technology “at ancient cultural sites-many opposing view had to be endured and overcome to introduce information delivery through electronic means, for the very first time.
Electronics for hands-on applications for general masses-Being relatively new in the country, familiarity of using this system became a critical factor for its popularity and acceptance. Guided user assistance had to be arranged initially.
Vast amounts for information in multiple languages – Content development in multiple languages to meet the requirements for European, Mediterranean East – Asian, tourists while retaining the rich cultural, historical and social meaning of content to appeal to all users, had to be done.
